Welcome to the Wilderness was made by combining the use of multiple sensor technologies within a real-time drum performance. First, a three piece acoustic drumset (bass drum, snare drum, and floor tom) was converted into an electronic instrument through the use of Sunhouse Sensory Percussion® technology (https://sunhou.se), which transforms the acoustic instrument into a fully customizable synthesizer that feels like a digital "overlay" applied to the drums. The collective signal between these three drums was sent to any number of custom audio processing modules built in Max/Msp~, which were then controlled during the real-time drum/synth performance through the use of a wearable MUGIC® Motion Controller (https://mugicmotion.com).
